Norma Feriz-Gordon is a dedicated college and career success coach on the College and Career Planning Team at the New York City Public Schools’ Office of Student Pathways, where she leads critical financial aid initiatives supporting 500+ high schools. A respected expert in her field, Norma coaches, trains, and mentors postsecondary planning teams, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to guide students toward success. She also designs and develops postsecondary planning curriculums aligned with the Career Navigation Roadmap, ensuring that students have clear, actionable pathways to their futures.
Norma spearheads financial aid completion events across NYC, collaborating with leading organizations to maximize access to scholarships and grants. Her work bridges the gap between policy and practice, empowering students and families to navigate the complexities of financial aid with confidence.
Beyond her work in college and career planning, Norma is the director of community outreach for The Blend ERG, where she fosters engagement and partnership opportunities that promote diversity, inclusion, and access for historically underrepresented communities. In this role, she works to build meaningful connections, ensuring that community voices are heard and integrated into broader initiatives that support educational and professional growth.
In addition to her role with NYC Public Schools, Norma is an adjunct professor at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where she continues to shape the next generation of educators and counselors. She holds a Certificate in Advanced Study in School Building Leadership and School District Leadership from the College of St. Rose/Center for Integrated Teacher Education, further strengthening her expertise in educational leadership and policy. With an unwavering commitment to equity, access, and student success, Norma remains at the forefront of postsecondary planning, ensuring that every student — regardless of background — has the support they need to achieve their college and career aspirations.
